All skill levels (Hand Sewing)
At first glance these blocks look like traditional log cabin quilt blocks, but their construction is different. This workshop will enable you to make a block, which will be based entirely on the span of your hand and length of a finger and thumb - no rulers involved and unique to you. It is a craft that goes back centuries, unique to the Isle of Man, totally hand sewn and involves no preparation apart from some fabrics. Originally it would have been made with whatever fabric was available but now you can have the choice of using up scraps, buying themed cottons or cosy flannels. Four blocks will usually be enough to make a cushion but be warned it is highly addictive! No wadding is used but the pleat created when making the blocks using this technique gives it a little more weight and if you do get carried away it would make a beautiful coverlet. This is a hand-sewing workshop.
