Reserve list. This “Old Mill” Sampler Quilt has been designed by Carolyn as a perfect technique builder for confident beginners or as a skill builder for those wishing to extend their patchwork skills and experience. The Medallion style design offers blocks using a variety of techniques and will look stunning in whatever colour palette is chosen by the maker.
Techniques taught on this course include: safe and accurate cutting, accurate ¼ inch seam piecing, Lone Star Medallion centre, pieced borders, curved piecing, appliqué, Foundation Paper Piecing, hand quilting, walking foot quilting, free-motion quilting, quilt-as-you-go technique and binding.
A requirements list will be provided and the ladies at Sew and So’s will always be happy to give advice on fabric and colour choices if required. Blocks will be completed in class (although some homework will be required in-between classes). At the end of the course, you will have learnt a wide variety of patchwork and quilting techniques and have a fully finished quilt to enjoy. Approximate size 70” square.
Skill level: Confident beginner and intermediate
Sampler quilts are one of the best ways to start patchwork and quilting. As the name suggests, it gives you the opportunity to gain experience and try out a variety of techniques or build on skills already learnt. In 2024/25 we will be running four sampler classes (three different samplers) so there should be a time and day of the week to suit everyone.
