CHRISTMAS POINSETTIA WREATH A one-day workshop with Alexa-Claire Legg

Alexa-Claire is one of several new tutors joining us for this holiday programme. She had her first sewing machine on her 21st birthday and soon put it to good use making soft furnishings for various new homes, children’s clothes for her daughters, and apparel for herself. Now, as she nears retirement from a career in healthcare, crafting is her go-to relaxation. Learning from others and passing that knowledge on enhances her crafting joy.
This Christmas Poinsettia Wreath, with its red and green, can be enjoyed as part of your festive indoor decorations. It is made up of two layers of different sized poinsettia petals together with their leaves, and a scattering of holly leaves to add interest. There is only one type of stitch used, simple satin stitch, making this workshop suitable for confident beginners through to more experienced sewists/crafters. A basic sewing machine with a zig zag foot is all that is required. Buttons or beads add the finishing touch to the flowers.
Each student will receive templates for the flowers and leaves, and step-by-step instructions will be shown throughout the workshop – please bring a pencil and notepad or your phone. Alexa-Claire will provide the wreath ring for the small charge of £3, payable on the day.
