All skill Levels (Hand sewing)

Kawandi quilts are made by the Siddi people, Indians of African descent, originating from the Bantu people of Southeast Africa. This form of ‘slow stitching’, using scraps of fabric, is hand pieced and quilted, and unusually, you will be working from the outside in towards the centre, tucking the raw edges in as you go!

The first project Nick will be teaching using this method of quilting is a very useful little shoulder bag, which is a joy to make. You will learn the full process whilst in the class together so that you can work at your own pace and finish the bag at home, at your leisure. Should you wish to finish the project in the class Nick suggests that you make the smaller bag that she uses to keep her essential sewing materials in.

This is another great project for using up those scraps of fabric. You will be given full instructions on both projects to take away.
