A one-day workshop

Workshop Fee: £48
Day/Date: Wednesday 27 May 2026
Time: 10 am – 3:30 pm
Skill level: All levels
Create a 12" panel inspired by archaeological finds, which can then be framed or inserted into a larger piece of work. Follow Mary’s Sutton Hoo Mask, illustrated, or choose your own subject from an archaeological find. In the morning, you will create your design using markal oil paint sticks (supplied by the tutor for use on the day) on black linen, then spend the afternoon adding colour and texture using free motion embroidery stitching with metallic threads. Mary will also look at tension techniques such as machine cable stitch and whip stitch to create additional texture.
Optional kit for the workshop available for £10, payable to Mary on the day.
